What approach does Roadmap to Innovation Mastery follow?
The Roadmap to Mastery programme is a multi-stage strategic intervention that runs at your pace probably over 6 to 12 months. The programme delivers you a plan for transformational innovation that helps to future-proof the organisation.
In the Assess phase, we start with a comprehensive assessment of the firm's technology and innovation management system and set priorities for improvement. We undertake online and in-person interviews with internal staff involved in the current innovation process and run a workshop to validate the assessment results and agree on high priorities.
In the Deploy phase, we help you to do things differently. By tailoring an innovation process we seek and find new sources of growth; tangible products, services and solutions that with high potential to excite customers and the wider company. And you can tell the key messages to secure resources from the board. In the final Change stage, we create a plan to track the organisation's ongoing transformation.

How does Roadmap to Innovation Mastery work?
Roadmap to Mastery is a managed service for innovation improvement. Before the project starts, we need to get to the starting line. First, we will hold a strategy call where you outline your objectives and we provide options for achieving those. We'll also provide you with ways to influence others in the firm to secure an agreement to proceed. When you are happy we will create a proposal along with terms and conditions detailing how the project will work. Then sign the proposal and we start.
During the ASSESS phase, we work with you to understand a deep-dive assessment of the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities facing your innovation organisation.
- Online survey of 20-40 internal staff involved in the current innovation process
- Ten one-to-one interviews with senior stakeholders
- We test eleven key areas of your innovation system and provide a comprehensive report on the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for innovation improvement.
- We facilitate a workshop to validate the assessment results and agree on high priorities for improvement.
In the DEPLOY stage, we work with you to identify exciting propositions for breakthrough value
- Select a business area "The Pilot" and sponsor for creating new products, services and solutions.
- Design the innovation toolboxt for the Pilot needed to support a selected group of your experts.
- Prime the participants with expert inputs on what good innovation looks like in the business area. Typically a 2-3 hour online seminar-style workshop.
- Prime and receive high-quality inputs from participants and prepare for a strategic roadmapping process to create the innovation landscape and select high-priority ideas for further development.
- Identify the capabilities, technologies and resources to support these. Facilitated multi-session workshops – Face to Face or Online. We provide the templates and facilitate the workshop process.
- Identify the approach to capability acquisition including make v buy, collaboration and partnerships.
- Develop preliminary business cases to communicate the results to secure resources.
For delivering breakthrough innovation the company will need to be organised differently. In the CHANGE stage, we work with you to identify how you need to organise for effective delivery.
- Workshop sessions by experts on the principles of good change management and help you develop a plan to handle the necessary changes.
- A workshop on strategic workforce planning to identify the key capabilities needed for delivery of the breakthrough innovation ideas.
- Review the approaches to support innovation improvement and integrate this into a trackable plan with KPIs.
